Interpretation of songs depends on a huge variety of determining factors. Based on the lyrics and the music of the composition the interpretation is mainly influenced by the technical and artistical skills of the singer. However, also external factors like prevailing taste, history related stylistic issues and performance practice contribute to the interpretation, too. These external factors led to characteristic changes in song interpretation during the last century. The extensive presenters’ experience as singer and teacher allows a sophisticated approach to the topic. The presentation includes characteristic samples of historic recordings.
